The Pediatrician's Role in Promoting
Health and Safety in Child Care
With more than 75% of today’s preschoolers involved
in daily out-of-home child care programs, the need for
pediatrician interest in child care issues has never
been
greater. The Pediatrician's Role
in Promoting Health and Safety in Child Care
answers the question of why pediatricians need to be
involved in child care and provides step-by-step instructions
for how they can provide guidance to families on child
care issues, provide health consultation to child care
programs, and advocate for quality child care within
the community.
Healthy Child Care America is sponsored by the US Department
of Health and Human Services Child Care Bureau and Maternal
and Child Health Bureau and is coordinated in partnership
with the American Academy of Pediatrics. For more information
about the program, contact the AAP Customer Service
Center at 888/227-5409 or childcare@aap.org.
